APC has done many things that assist to preserve and protect the environment - because it makes good sense as citizens of this planet and it makes good sense as investors in the future.

By automating our paper intensive processes, we have made significant reductions. Processes include electronic on-boarding of new employee documents, on-line time entry, electronic payroll deposit, electronic statements, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) invoicing, and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for A/R and A/P. E-mail and Internet access to information has replaced a lot of paper based communications and delays associated with a manual process.

Most of our marketing materials are online to reduce out-of-date versions, unnecessary printing, and improve accessibility. Soon we will be supplying much of our training online for the same reasons. Also, Document Image Processing is underway and will replace many drawers of paper filled folders with electronic folders. This will allow each department to process transactions (such as a new hire) without having to wait for the paper folder to be completed by another department or having to search for misplaced or misfiled folders.

We cancel all unwanted and unneeded catalogs, magazines, and phonebooks. By simply calling the senders to request to be removed from their mailing lists, we have saved many trees, the cost of sorting and distribution, hauling them to the trash bins, and helped to relieve our overcrowded landfills. Plus, we have saved the senders from unnecessary costs that, hopefully, they will pass on to their customers and stockholders.

Catalogs, magazines, paper, and phonebooks that we do use are recycled once they become obsolete. Also, recycle bins in the break room are used for beverage bottles and plastic items. At our headquarters, the need to recycle thousands of plastic water bottles has been replaced with large 5 gallon jars of spring water and re-useable mugs.

Many of the faxes that we received are via E-Fax instead of paper fax. This allows immediate distribution and sharing multiple electronic copies without having to use the expensive copier machine.

Old cell phones are donated to the local women's shelters to be used for emergencies only. Old computers are donated to charity that can generate new life into a defunct machine.

Our lights are fluorescent and turned off when not in use. Soon occupancy sensors will be placed in selected rooms to automatically turn off the lights if no one is in the area.

Most of the steps above not only help to save the environment, they are easy to do and generally provide significant cost savings! So, yes, APC is Green and with your help we can do much more.
